Jan 2003 Ride

Overall, it was a great ride.

Indeed, we were lucky tpo be rain free. How great. The energy of The People was good. I was impressed with the corking! I haven't seen such flawless corking perhaps EVER! There were 2 or 3 fellas who were very dillegent about it they took that on as their mission and did a great job. One of them would yell "Cork that shit!" if couldn't get to the intersection in due time. One time he added something like "are you just going to bust through that intersection and hope for the best?". Educational, he was.

I was also impressed when the group moved out of teh way for the bus after crossing the Morrison. It's something I've tried to rally folks to do before, but when our numbers are big it's difficult. The ride this month was a very manageable size.

I agree with Fred that the bus mall route was Stupid. Luckily a few folks were able to pursuade the mass to get out of that area at somepoint, but only after circling Pioneer Square.

Another argument in favor of having thoughtful riders at the front!

Perhaps it would be good for a few of us to agree to do a few thigns together to help win over teh mass. I know that sometiems teh ride is so huge i think it's almost not worth pursading folks because there is no way the whole crowd will here or comprehend or follow or whatever. Maybe if we acknowledge amongst each other we will always (for example) - encourage folks to move out of the way for busses - discourage bus mall routes - encourage letting cars get out of the mass (they're dangerous when they're with us) - discourage running a dangerous red (cars coming through, only works for people in front).

If I knew there were others in the mass sharing the same message as me, I would have more hope and be more likely to speak out.

Oerall, though, great ride. Again, I'm impressed with that corking!
